Description
For Ongley, the changing and varying brushstrokes featured within her art works establish breaks and expressions. With the monochromatic tones exaggerating the organic shapes they become both recognisable and an abstraction of form. Ongley is influenced by the ideals of Baroque and Post Modernist art of the 1980's, in the quest of combining figuration, abstraction and figurative awkwardness. The tulip series combine well-placed and calculated strokes of translucent oil paint, often overlapping, with the flash of green featuring as a nod to the natural subject. The collection is modern alternative take on a classic series of tulip portraits.
